Harbor Digital Ultimate Light Box Pro Pack for the Nikon SB-50 DX, SB-80DX & SB-800 Review
Absolutely pleased with this product. I purchased a second one. I use them with SB-800s for hair/key lights on stands for portraiture. I have not tried them on camera yet or at the end of a flash cord in hand but I plan to.
It’s a very nice kit, the images on this page do not do the product justice. There are colored gels, additional diffuser panels to control output, a large black sided enclosure for directional flash and more.
Needs better instructions though, I would have given it 5 stars except for this.
Harbor Digital Ultimate Light Box Pro Pack for the Nikon SB-50 DX, SB-80DX & SB-800 Overview
This is a special introductory package of the Ultimate Light Box System. It includes the entire Light Box System and all current accessories. The Ultimate Light Box ProPack is the most complete and configurable diffusion system available. The ProPack has all of the features of the Ultimate Light Box diffuser kit, the small Half Dome diffuser, plus the added features of the unique Black Box and six colored Gels (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink and ½ CTO) and accessories. The Black Box and Gels can be used as a background or dramatic rim light. The large size of the Gel Filters produces an intense color that is not washed out like smaller gels that are close to the flash lens. Light from the Black Box is very directional so it may be used like a snoot or for a hair light if desired. The ProPack also includes a large external Reflector to direct more light towards the subject and the Sensor/Lens Shield to protect against lens flare and flash sensor interference. The ProPack comes complete with a flash Adapter and Half dome. Winner of several PMA07 awards, the many unique features of the Ultimate Light Box system make it simply the best diffuser available.

Worked spot on the first week I had it. Afterwards, not so much. It is unreliable. I mucked around with the hotshoe connection and got it to work better, but still I don’t trust that it will fire 100% of the time. More like 65% and that is just unacceptable. I plan to purchase a wireless system, and if ever I go to a cord like this, it will be the Nikon cord.

The Adorama iTTL flash cord works fine, but I was very disappointed in its quality of materials and workmanship…very cheap. Probably won’t hold up. The spring-loaded lever that locks the hot shoe to the camera is especially cheapish and looks like it will easily break off. It protrudes dangerously, asking to be bent or broken. If you are expecting a Nikon-quality aftermarket accessory for your Nikon camera, this is not it.

Adorama Off-Camera iTTL Coiled Flash Cord (3-Ft Max) for Nikon Cameras I Would not recommend this product as after I placed it on my Nikon D200, I could not get it off the hot shoe. I finally had to pry it off with a screwdriver. It made deep scratches in my hot shoe. I have ordered a similar product made by Nikon. Stay away from this product unless you plan on leaving it on your camera permanently.
Pathetic Aftermarket Flash Cable – Papatone –
This cable only worked intermittently soon after I purchased it. I took the head apart to find that the cable didn’t have an effective strain relief. There is only a wire clamped over the cable to keep it from being pulled out of the adapter but there is nothing to keep it from being pushed in, which weakens and shorts the very small wires that are soldered to the pc board. An absolutely pathetic design from a physical standpoint.

Im not a pro photographer but IMHO this little plastic piece does a great job. You can really see the difference in the pics taken with and without this diffuser. I purchased two of them as “USED” trying to save a couple of bucks and let me tell you they were in perfect condition. Im really happy with this purchase.

Bought this last November for my sb-800 and didn’t try to use it until too late to send it back. It’s simply garbage. I tried to put it on the flash and it didn’t fit well enough to stay on. It would stay for a few minutes then pop off. Tried to push it on a little harder and it split on one of teh corner but even then still wouldn’t stay on. Save yourself the trouble of a return and don’t buy this. I can’t believe others have rated it highly. Did they actually try to use it? Guess the word is mostly true on buying cheap stuff… you get what you pay for. In this case its a little off though in that I paid money and got nothing of value.
Why does a reputable camera dealer even sell this?
